The DOT Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and dispatching drivers, equipment, and freight to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time deliveries. This role requires knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, route planning, driver communication, and transportation management systems. The dispatcher serves as the primary point of contact between drivers, customers, and operations personnel to maintain high service levels and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Dispatch drivers and assign loads based on route efficiency, customer requirements, and driver availability.
• Monitor shipment status and provide real-time updates to customers and management.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS), Electronic Logging Devices (ELD), and safety requirements.
• Track driver locations, equipment utilization, and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments with customers, warehouses, and carriers.
• Resolve transportation issues such as delays, breakdowns, traffic disruptions, and service failures.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records, driver documentation, and transportation reports.
• Verify driver qualifications, licenses, medical certificates, and other compliance-related documentation.
• Communicate regularly with drivers regarding route changes, safety concerns, and delivery instructions.
• Review and audit driver logs and supporting transportation records for compliance.
• Collaborate with customer service, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure seamless freight movement.
• Support load planning and optimize routes to maximize efficiency while minimizing costs.
• Respond to emergencies and after-hours transportation issues as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of dispatching experience in transportation, logistics, or trucking operations.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, Hours of Service (HOS), and ELD systems.
• Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS tracking platforms, and dispatch software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Experience with fleet management and freight brokerage operations.
• Knowledge of interstate and intrastate transportation regulations.
